Kansas City Rumba Collective

The Village

Sunday, September 30 - 12:30 PM
The Village at Swope Park

Afro-Cuban rumbas have been occurring on Sunday afternoons at Loose Park since the early 1980s after the late Cuban rumbero Agustín Romero-Diaz immigrated to Kansas City. Since his passing in 2014, Miko Spears, Fahali Igbo, Bird Fleming, Jessica Ayala, Les Izmore and Brad Williams have kept the flame burning. The Collective is coming to Swope Park’s The Village in four programs fusing rumba, poetry, soul, bachata, and latin funk featuring Miko Spears on percussion, Fahali Igbo on percussion, Bird Fleming on percussion, Brad Williams on percussion, Les Izmore on clave, Jessica Ayala on poetry and vocals, Laura Noble on vocals, and Seyko on vocals.
