Open Spaces Installation Art Workshop with Jahaira Aguilar

“The Hogan” Building in Camp Lake of the Woods

Jahaira Aguilar is a graduate of the Kansas City Art Institute and a fellow at Charlotte Street Studios in Kansas City, where she practices installation art. She has taught many kinds of visual art in various settings in the Kansas City community, including the Kansas city Art Institute's School of Continuing Education. Ms. Aguilar will guide you and other participants to see and talk about two, Open Spaces artworks: Ebony Patterson's transformation of the abandoned Gilkey Swimming Pool and Sean Bitters' artificial stones which place a mysterious code along a nearby hiking trail. These are both steps away from the historic Hogan building. After discussing these powerful installations, participants will transform the Hogan building with materials and guidance provided by Ms. Aguilar.

Wear long pants, high socks and comfortable shoes. The trail may have some overgrowth. Please, arrive early. Participants will leave to walk the trail right when the session begins. There is parking in front of the Hogan.
