Help us celebrate Kansas City’s art and culture by letting us market your pop-up exhibition, art event, concert, performance and/or film screening during our nine-week arts experience. We are already partnering with many of the city’s art museums and exhibition spaces, as well as its concert and performance venues, to develop a packed calendar of daily and weekly activities. If your newest (or soon-to-be-realized) creative venture is happening during the nine weeks of Open Spaces, please let us know about it. Please considering submitting information about your project(s) if it meets the following requirements.
1. Project must occur any time during the following period in the Kansas City Metro Area:
Aug. 25 – Oct. 28, 2018 in the Kansas City Metropolitan area.
2. Applying & Approval
An application is required for all Expanded Field participants, and is subject to approval by Open Spaces. Expanded Field listings will be curated with priority given to performances, exhibits and events that emphasize contemporary or modern content. There is no fee to register as an Open Spaces Expanded Field participant. Your application ensures that we have correct details (dates, artist name(s), performance or exhibition title, locations, logo, etc.) for inclusion in Open Spaces promotional materials, and to ensure that public safety and needs are met – see below.
3. Federal, state and city codes and permit requirements
Open Spaces wants to make sure everyone has a safe and enjoyable experience. In order to ensure public safety and security, all facilities, spaces or events that participate in the Expanded Field must meet all federal, state and city codes and secure all necessary permits.
City Codes and ordinances guide the development of the City and ensure public safety. The City Planning and Development Department manages and regulates the following most common building, zoning and development codes. For building and construction code-related questions, please call the Code Question Hotline at 816-513-1511.
