Thirty years ago, New York composers Michael Gordon, David Lang and Julia Wolfe launched Bang on a Can as a way to bring musicians and audiences together from across genres and create a vibrant international community to support innovation through music. Bang on a Can have since performed in concert halls and museums all over the world, and for their Kansas City debut and in collaboration with the Kansas City Chorale, the sextet will perform Wolfe’s powerful Anthracite Fields, which won the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Music, along with two shorter works by Gordon and Christian Marclay.
