Will Matthews

Matthews is a jazz guitarist who was born and raised in Kansas City, where he lives and works today. In 1996, he joined the Count Basie Orchestra as lead guitarist and played on two successive Grammy-winning recordings: Count Basie Orchestra Live at Manchester Guild (1997) and Count Plays Duke (1999). Matthews continues to tour the world with the Basie orchestra, and performs closer to home as guitarist for the 18th & Vine Big Band, led by Bobby Watson. His debut CD, Solo, was released to wide acclaim in 2000, followed by 2009’s superb Count on Swingin’.
