Great art needs volunteer help!

Open Spaces is an inaugural arts exhibition in Kansas City that takes place citywide from August 25th to October 28th. Learn more about it at openspaceskc.com. The Open Spaces team is looking for volunteers to help bring the art to the people! Open Spaces offers a huge schedule of events and performances, and the exhibition of more than 40 great visual artworks throughout the city. Our team needs volunteers to be gallery attendants or welcome the public at various events. This volunteer work is often calm and quiet, and Open Spaces can work with your schedule. It's a great way to meet people interested in the arts and to learn about contemporary art for yourself. Interested? Fill out this quick and easy form, and we'll contact you!

Gallery Attendants:

Greet guests to each gallery and make sure that the artwork is "running" smoothly and keep the space secure and as the artist intends. A chance to meet other art lovers and gallerists from out of town to see what Kansas City art and artists are all about.

Art Concierge:

With any new event or experience, it is helpful to have someone knowledgeable to answer questions and direct guests to the art and help navigate the maps and app. Afterall, this is a city-wide event and it takes time to get to know each artwork. The concierge will also have the opportunity to discuss the artwork and Open Spaces with visitors.

Village Greeters and Assistants:

Each weekend presents an array of performances and art at the Open Spaces Village. Greeters are needed to welcome our visitors and be on hand throughout the day to answer performance and village related questions, assistants are needed to help our team with performers and set up and tear-down throughout the day.

Gallery Attendants Needed

Open Spaces has several temporary positions available this fall for gallery attendants beginning immediately through October 28, 2018.

Attendants will monitor assigned gallery during business hours and make sure it is running smoothly for visitors.

Gallery hours are: 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays. Shifts range from 4 to 8 hours each. $7.85/hr.

Attendants may do quiet work or reading during shifts. WiFi available in most galleries.

Experienced Art Handlers Needed

Open Spaces will soon wrap up its inaugural exhibition on October 28 and seeks qualified art handles to de-install the exhibition beginning on October 29.

The team will de-install and prepare artworks for shipping, and restore some sites to pre-exhibition conditions.

De-installations have varied hours and therefor handlers need to be flexible, have reliable transportation and communication. Orientation will take place the week of October 20.

Exhibition venues

The majority of our venues are ADA accessible except where noted. For those venues that are not, we will provide assistance as we are able. Please contact Open Spaces concierge Diana Arganbright at 816-459-0258 or email info.com to discuss how we can accommodate you.

Service animals are allowed in all venues provided that they are a service dog or a service horse.

Parking: We have provided handicap parking spots for our village performances. Please visit venue websites for additional parking information.

Interpreters

Please call 816-459-0258 or email Diana at info.com 5 days in advance to arrange for a sign-language or audio interpreter at any of our performances or artist talks

Language: If you do not speak English, call or email our hotline to arrange a tour guide in the following languages- Visit KC

FREE! Our village performances and our visual art installations are all free and open to the public. Some of our other productions carry an admission to cover costs but we aim to make this event enjoyable for all at a very low or no cost.
