21c Salon: Anthracite Fields

21c Museum Hotel

The widely recognized avant-garde composer, Julia Wolfe, will discuss the creation of her Pulitzer prize-winning composition, Anthracite Fields, an homage to Pennsylvania's "hard coal" region, whose landscape and labor fueled America's Industrial Revolution. The Grammy-winning KC Chorale, and internationally acclaimed ensemble, Bang on a Can All Stars, perform Anthracite Fields the same evening at the Folly Theater, as part of the Open Spaces "Beyond the Village" performance series.

Julia Wolfe will be interviewed at the 21c Salon by fellow composer Ingrid Stolzel, who holds a doctorate in composition from the UMKC Conservatory, and is Assistant Professor of Music at the University of Kansas.

Thank you to our partners, 21c Museum Hotel! The 21c Salon event series takes place every Thursday throughout Open Spaces.
