21c Salon: The Vincent O. Carter Project
21c Museum Hotel
What if one of the best books ever written about Kansas City had barely escaped total oblivion, and was only published twenty years after the death of its author, whose name even today is familiar to members of a self-selected but devoted cult? This salon will take the form of a shared reading from the two extraordinary published works of Kansas City author Vincent O. Carter (1924-1983) — Such Sweet Thunder (2004) and The Bern Book (1970) — followed by a panel discussion on his life and legacy. The all-star panel of Kansas City authors features Sheri Purpose Hall, Glenn North and Whitney Terrell, with Open Spaces Artistic Director Dan Cameron as panel moderator.
Thank you to our partners, 21c Museum and Hotel! The 21c Salon event series takes place every Thursday throughout Open Spaces.
